BASKETBALL RECRUITING: Two new 2011 offers

I have been working the phones a little bit tonight and have uncovered two new basketball offers for the class of 2011.

I just got off the phone with 6-foot-5, Lansing, Mich. prospect LaDontae Henton. He told me that Iowa State associate head coach T.J. Otzelberger offered him a scholarship this morning in Las Vegas.

I also spoke with Pat Coons, the head basketball coach at Westview High School in Portland, Ore. Coons confirmed to me that Iowa State just offered Austin Kuemper, who stands 6-foot-10 and is said to be a very strong shooter. Kuemper has a handful of mid-major offers on the west coast, including San Diego State and Boise State. Washington State has also offered.

I'll have a hoops recruiting update with some quotes up on the site tomorrow morning.

Pretty impressive list on Henton's profile. Hopefully TJ can help land him

I am working on nailing one or two more of these down. Hopefully I'll have some more news for everybody today.

Talked to Naadir Tharpe last night too. He says ISU is still in the mix, despite not listing the Cyclones in numerous recent updates of his.

There isn't an impressive offer on that list and nothing we couldn't match. Penn St., Dayton, Cleveland St....?

This...we are by far his best offer to date.

Both of these guys should have us on top given their offer lists.

Ohio State is on there, right?

Edit: Nevermind. I see they haven't offered yet.

Re: BASKETBALL RECRUITING: Two new 2011 offers

Henton averaged 27p and 15r last year as a junior. Found an article about him from yesterday talking about Dayton as his fav right now. He’s a three-time Michigan Class A (big school) all-state player. Also looked up his hs team and he is a 6-6, 215lbs and plays the 3 and 4 for Eastern. Also has a 90 grade on espn.

Flyers favored to land versatile Michigan senior

Little surprised to see us recruiting another 6-5 ish wing in this class. We definitely need another PG and another big, he must just be too good to pass up.

Putting another scorer with some length on the wings seems fine to me. I think FH might want to go a little smaller anyway. More athletic and more versatility for running and possibly a press or trapping defense.

Is there a connection between Kuemper and Jordan Railey? AAU ball, perhaps?

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.
    (They just disappear offseason)
