    I'd project us in the low 60s somewhere. Would love it to be even higher.

    So #75 doesn't bug horribly EXCEPT: Um, how would Wyoming rank four spots higher, considering the Cowboys were also 7-6 w/ a bowl last season, and the preview makes the case for scheduling: "Getting back to the postseason could be difficult with this schedule." ISU's preview said, "Returning to a bowl may be difficult given the schedule."

    Wyoming plays Boise State, at TCU, Utah at home, at Texas and at BYU. That's five losses right there, including two teams ISU plays. So you could compare common opponents in those games, and I doubt Wyoming will fare better than ISU.

    Wyoming's record may end up better, but would they really be better?

    I somehow glossed over that the first time I read it.

    I understood the general point, as far as improvement over the previous season (in the grain-of-salt way) but now that I think about it, it doesn't make sense.

    Same conference rotation as '08; non-conference schedule wasn't significantly weaker, either.

    Let's look at where the extra wins came:

    * Didn't lose a non-Iowa OOC game (UNLV/Army) -- that's a tie as far as schedule strength, with even the most pessimistic assessment.

    * at Nebraska. Yeah, Easy.

    * Baylor. Home-field advantage

    * Colorado. Home-field advantage.

    Had the schedule been night-and-day from 2008 to 2009, I could understand.
