    Christopherson or Phillips?

For once, we don't have a million things to discuss regarding MBB, so let's talk about our lineup for this coming season.

Let's say the lineup was set in stone to be the following (assuming White is eligible, although it's doubtful):

    G - Diante Garrett (Sr.)
    G - ?
    G/F - Melvin Ejim (Fr.)
    F - Jamie Vanderbeken (Sr.)
    F - Royce White (Fr.)

Do you start Scottie or DeMarcus at the 2 spot? I personally would go with SC just because we need to have a shooting threat out there, but I'd like to know what you guys think? Or would you slide one of the three frontcourt players out of the above lineup and insert both DP and SC? That'd be a very small lineup but it could be effective. What do you think?

    Re: Christopherson or Phillips?

Its going to be DP. He is a potential game changer and could be our best guard since Mike Taylor.

Scotty. He can shoot. Nobody else on the team can besides VB.

    Re: Christopherson or Phillips?

I think it will be Scotty to start because of his experience and because he is so fundamentally sound. Phillips is talented and could take him over by mid season... but let's not forget that Scotty was Mr. Basketball of WI so he's no push-over.

    Re: Christopherson or Phillips?

It'd be great to have Royce in the fold because he immediately adds much needed depth to our frontcourt, and that's not even counting his ability. Just his size adds that much to our roster.

How respectable is a lineup of...

    Garrett
    Christopherson
    Ejim
    Vanderbeken
    White
    ---
    Anderson
    Phillips
    Godfrey
    Railey
    McKnight
    Palo

    Re: Christopherson or Phillips?

Christo at the 2-spot. Anderson gets most of the minutes off the bench. Phillips gets a few minutes each game.

If no go on White, then Ejim slides to the 4-spot, Anderson starts at the 3, and DeMarcus gets a lot of minutes off the bench. Bubu will earn some legit minutes, too. And we'll need 2 of the 3 Freshman bigs to play real minutes off the bench. My guess is Godfrey and Railey, but it's an uneducated guess at this point.

    Re: Christopherson or Phillips?

Scotty, we need someone who can hit a three. And he's not just a three point shooter either. He is very quick and has a nice drive to the basket.

I think some people forget that he was playing sick for much of last year. If he is healthy, he'll have more energy and can focus a bit more on his offense rather than wearing himself out on defense.

    Re: Christopherson or Phillips?

I've never seen DP play, except in some grainy youtube clips. I'm going with Scotty for a few reasons:
    1. Familiarity
    2. He's already played through one year of Big 12 basketball
    3. I thought he was really pretty good toward the end of last season, so I'm sure the kid can ball when he's not walking in his sleep.
    4. CFH loves, I mean LOVES, Scott Christopherson
Now, if I'm wrong, it's a very nice problem to have.

Touche. Assuming was probably the wrong choice, should've used a word like 'Hoping'.

    Re: Christopherson or Phillips?

I agree with the general consensus of Scotty, but think most likely scenario is:

    DG
    DP/Anderson
    Scotty
    Ejim
    JVB

Looking at that lineup though, what was once a deep team of guards isn't looking so deep anymore...
