    Steve Deace's 2010 CFB Preview

    Has anybody read this yet?

    I plan on digging into it this weekend. I always look forward to Deace's preview. He needs to get this thing published.

    IMO, he is one of the best college football guys out there and he gives good analysis on most situations.

    I agree. Deace is a savant when it comes to College FB. A lot of people specialize on one Conf and maybe the other top 10 programs.

    Deace has crazy off the top of his head knowledge of mediocre teams that are not in either one of the conferences in his geography.

    Thanks for the post CW. I will be reading up.

    “It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...”

    I agree. I think he is very good, though sometimes I think he is just a great debater that he can make you think his position is correct even when it's wrong.

    Re: Steve Deace's 2010 CFB Preview

    He has us going 6-6, 3-5 in the Big XII, and playing in the Insight Bowl vs. Michigan State. I'm assuming wins over Northern Illinois, Utah, UNI, Kansas, K-State, and Colorado? A-Rob is one of his top 5 "underrated" players in the country.

    He seems very high on Colorado and Texas Tech, like many other "pundits" have been, but I really don't see the Colorado obsession. Phil Steele too...what have they shown under Hawkins that gives anyone the idea they can just suddenly win next year?

    For those who are curious and don't want to read, he has the Hawks winning the Big Ten at 10-2, 7-1.

    My first ISU basketball game - Fred Hoiberg was on the court.
    My first ISU football game - Paul Rhoads was on the sidelines.
    But they hadn't yet reached their full potential.

    SO PROUD that things have come full circle. #cyclONEnation

    its just because CU has good returning linemane, tailback, and seasoned qb... but they have been very inconsistant over last 3 years... for instance they play well against georgia, and modestly well against texas, and lose to KU or Kstate... or us 17-10

    Big XII coach of the year: Dan Hawkins
    Big XII coach most likely to get fired: Dan Hawkins

    Sounds like he is covering all of his bases with Dan Hawkins.

    I wonder if Deace knows the Insight Bowl has #4 selection now. If he does, the Insight Bowl must really love us based on his projected final record.

    Re: Steve Deace's 2010 CFB Preview

    This is definitely thorough. Nobody will agree with all his projections, but he obviously works hard on this. I want to check it out further when I have more time.

    Now, for my Mr. Nitpick: his Colorado prediction. I might as well go on record (again) and say, Colorado isn't finishing 4-4/7-5.

    I'm sure my prediction is a little low (3-9/1-7) ... but I'll even split the difference for a few games as toss-ups, and I don't get them at .500 in the XII:
    vs CSU W
    @Cal L
    Hawaii W
    Georgia L
    @Mizzou L
    Baylor W/L (home field will help)
    Tech L
    @OU L
    @KU W/L (road game disadvantage, could be one of only 2 KU wins)
    ISU W/L (ISU should win, but the Boulder Jinx looms)
    KSU L
    @Nebraska L

    At best, that's 5-7. Even a win vs. Cal (possible) gets only 6-6.

    I heard Deace on the Miller-Deace call a CU-Georgia upset-of-the-year in the Big 12. Gutsy, but no.

    His arguments always sound reasonable, so I would agree. I think he's great at analysis, but very off the wall with predictions.

    I've heard him on many occasions say he has a photographic memory. That would be awesome.

    Seems pretty accurate....My take on the Dan Hawkins scenario, is boom or bust...
