    Deane Gunderson has passed....

Deane Gunderson passed away on July 1, 2010. Deane was best known for supporting the Cyclones by building the CY statue that used to stand on the N side of the football field. Statue now stands on main street of Rolfe. He was also awarded Cy's Favorite Alum many years ago. 2 Engineering Degrees from Iowa State but went home to the family farm. Great man. Great Cyclone. He will be missed.

Deane was the reason I am a Cyclone. He provided season football tickets or me when I was young and also let me use his front row basketball tickets when he was unable. Gave them without expecting anything in return.

    Re: Deane Gunderson has passed....

Sad to hear. Dean was quite the cyclone supporter at ISU and around the Rolfe and Pocahontas Area. He was at almost every (if not all) of the men's and women's basketball games. And if he couldn't go, I know he would usually give his tickets away to a cyclone family! He gave several tickets to my family at my mothers retirement party.
Got a chance to chat with him and my family during halftime of the ISU vs Baylor game. RIP Deane
