Iowan Hiker Dies in the Tetons

This is quite the story...anyone been following this?

A thunderstorm swept through this hiking party, and injured 16 people. One hiker fell off a sheer cliff and died, and he's a young man from Sanborn, Iowa.

    Pretty good basketball player, too.

Northwest Iowa people might recognize his name...Brandon Oldenkamp. He played ball at Dordt College.

Very sad. Thought and prayers with the family. It's really amazing how fast storms come without much warning up there. We got caught in one years ago and it was damn scary.

Re: Iowan Hiker Dies in the Tetons

Not a hiker. A climber. Big difference.

I was on the Teton Crest trail in 2006 and the first night we were there we got pummeled by a storm in the valley. It was the worst storm I've been in.

Good rule. I summited Longs Peak before Noon and the storms were brewing already.

    Sad story.
