Hawks sign SG, does this help us w/ Gibbs?

Thats another guard signed for the Hawks for 2008. This might not really change anything, but Iowa is going to be signing a lot of players in the nex year or so, the longer Gibbs stays uncommitted anywhere, the more i like our chances.

He has been quoted at saying he wants to go where he fits in the best, and he already likes Coach Mc D. a lot. Go Cyclones!

Anthony Tucker out of Minnetonka. Funny, his uncle sits in the cube straight across from me (i'm looking at him now), he's been telling me his nephew is a really good basketball player, and i've been going 'yeah, whatever'.

This morning he comes in with this really big grin on his face, and says to me "I suppose you're a big Hawkeye fan...my nephew just commited there". He was assuming that since i'm from Iowa, i must be a Hawkeye fan.

Had to explain to him the difference between ISU and EIU.

I don't think it will matter much. The three schools that are reportedly leading for him (ISU, Iowa, and WI) all have loaded backcourts. I'm starting to think we have a better shot with this kid than I first thought.

Edit: I should say, a lot of scholarship players in the backcourt.

I think it will come down to Iowa or ISU

His mom is an ISU grad but he does play AAU with the kid from Iowa City who committed to Iowa. They are supposedly real good friends.

He really likes Mac and if Alford would have stayed he would have been at ISU for sure. He like Licklitter and I am sure he will attend most Iowa home games and be right behind the bench with Gattens or whatever his name is.

Is anyone else worried that WI is on his short list? They seemed to pull off a pretty big one with Bohannon, who also went to Linn-Mar with Gibbs.

If he goes to Wisconsin I wouldn't be bothered much.

Bohannon was a fluke like Collison and Heinrick

Collison goes to Iowa if Steve Alford would have been there a year earlier and Heinrick would have been a Cyclone if Floyd would have stayed at ISU.

Bohannon fell through the cracks of Alford and Morgan.

    Gibbs will stay in state

I think the "he plays on the same team as X player" or "he's friends with Y player" is over-hyped. Rarely does a decision to play Division I sports come down to where your friends or good buddies are going. It will come down to where he feels his game fits with a particular program, playing time opportunities, NCAA tournament considerations and the rapport he's built with those recruiting him IMHO.

bohannon didn't fall through the cracks he wasnt going to be a cyclone, his dad was a rose bowl quarterback for iowa, his choices were stanford and wisconsin, and iowa if they had a coach rather than a weasel. i remember he really liked stanford but didn't want to live that far away plus him and his dad wanted to stay in the big 10 and Jason liked wisconsins coach better than alfraud
