I was hoping to see a change, not that it is his fault, but it is time to shake the team up and start over, younger players, at least they could be exciting to watch.

So who are the candidates to replace him? Is Sandberg the front-runner?

I doubt it, I think he still has to do some work here in Iowa still, but will be there very soon.

I see them bringing in someone with alot of experience first then bring in Ryno.

Why would a manager want to come in when he knows he's a lame duck and his successor is just waiting in AAA?

    Girardi might be a possibility.

    Re: Breaking: Piniella to retire

weather or not the Cubs will do that or not is beyond me, if I had to take a guess at what will happen I could see that, and have a gem of a prospect in the waiting when he gets some more experience underneath Ryno's belt.

Unless he gets canned, why would he quit managing the American League All Stars every night for the Cubs or anybody else? Or are you assuming he gets canned?

His name gets mentioned. He's from Peoria and went to Northwestern and came up through the Cubs organization. His contract with the Yankees is up after this season. Probably no likely, but possible.

The perfect fit for a couple seasons: Bobby Valentine. The Cubs welcome him back to MLB and he constructs a team around young talent, and then hands the reigns to Sandberg in 2014.

Local talk has Bob Brenley (who currently is the color analyst in the broadcast booth for the Cubs and has a World Series ring from his days managing the Dbacks) and Ryno at the top of the list. Those who have listened to Brenley are very impressed with him and would love to have him if he is willing to give up his gig on the radio.
