Carl vs. Brad K - last night's Nationwide race

I watched the first 150 laps of last night's Nationwide race at St. Louis and had to leave the TV for the final 50. Just saw the highlights on Sports Center and it appears that I missed a wild one.

Carl Edwards took out Brad K. again?!?!?!?!

    Are you kidding me?

Carl Edwards is an amazing guy in my mind. Four years ago, he was NASCAR's sweetheart in line to take on the "bad boy" Kyle Busch. Edwards was supposed to be that hero that NASCAR has been looking for.

Now, is it me or is Carl quickly becoming one of the sports top villians?

Regardless, this is phenomenal for the sport. NASCAR has severly been lacking real rivalries over the last decade and two young guys like this going at it on a weekly basis is a very, very good thing.

I love Brad K. One of my favorites out there right now. The clip of his dad nearly crying saying "He's (Carl) not going to kill my boy. I'll put a uniform on and take care of this if I have to" was PRICELESS.

Looking forward to some of your thoughts. And if you're not a NASCAR fan, spare me with your "racing isn't a sport" responses. They are 1) very predictable 2) ignorant and 3) not needed. Thanks in advance.

Hot Carl can't win cleanly like he could several years back, and I'm sure he's frustrated about it. But he has almost killed Brad twice now. He should have been immediately stripped of the win last night and suspended.

Carl used to be my favorite. Now he is clearly a punk.

Re: Carl vs. Brad K - last night's Nationwide race

I don't think Carl intended bumping Brad in attempt to get the win to result as badly as it did. If he did, then he's a *******. This wasn't Carl v. any other driver. It was Carl v. Brad part III, and he had to be aware it was Brad he was going up against. The ramifications of a third go-around is always more severe than part one and two combined. If he didn't that have in the back of his mind, then he deserves what is probably coming to him.

Keselowski nudged Edwards on the backstretch, but just enough to slide by and not wreck Edwards. It sure seemed like retaliation as they came off of Turn 4.

The spin wasn't nearly as bad as the massive double hit that Keselowski took from two other cars.

yep...Brad clearly overdrove the car on the restart which resulted in his car getting into Carl and knocking him out of the way...that part isnt up for discussion. The discussion is was Carl too rough in his payback. Had he just done enough to move Brad then I think its a non story today.....but wrecking him and turning him in front of 25 other cars wasnt good.....Brad got creamed twice by two other cars. There were a few hard hits last night....the 18 hitting the 20 was pretty rough too. The 32 appeared to let off when coming to the line when the wreck happened...had he kept it floored he may have beat Carl or at least got close enough to move Carl for the win himself

Re: Carl vs. Brad K - last night's Nationwide race

I got to watch the replay on Nascar.com. I hit the point in the replay where it happened several times to try to see exactly what happend. Not to defend Carl, but he didn't turn into Brad that hard. One short tip of Carl's nose into Brad's quarterpanel and then he drove straight on to the finish. I wasn't a hard turn at all, but it did pull Brad in front of Carl who then drove through him. The result was much worse that what initiated it.

I did, however, find Brad's and Carl's explanation after the race honest. Brad admitted to bumping Carl in turn 1 (which slowed Carl down and set up the final bump) and Carl said he wasn't going to let Brad take that win away from him so he did what he had to.

How many bump and runs have we seen in the history of Nascar? Some with minor consequenses and others like last night's.

You do realize that Brad drives a PENSKE Dodge now and not Jr Motorsports 88 right? He even led the points till last night. Something he did not do with Jr. He is a good driver and someone was going to give him a ride. Jr was first. Love ignorant Jr haters.

Also Edwards is by far the biggest cry baby in nascar

No worse than what number "3" the Intimidator used to do and most everyone liked him.

agreed. this is stuff guys used to do all the time. it's unfortunate that BK has been turned upside down and crashed into, but Dale Sr did this stuff all the time. Isn't this what NASCAR wanted at the start of the year when they said "old school" racing was coming back?

Nobody cries when it's Gordon, Johnson or Kyle Bucsh.
