    Derrek Lee warming to trade?

Some of Derrek Lee's friends tell Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports that they believe the first baseman would waive his no-trade clause for the right deal. The Angels would prefer to pursue someone who isn't under contract next year, so they could be a fit for Lee.

Well, no ****. There's a HI of 147 in Creston, today. That kind of warmth can be felt across the nation.

Sorry...it's been a long week, already. I think I'm delirious.

Why wouldn't he be warming up to a trade? Hell... I would take a trade to the worst team in the MLB to get out of Chicago. Wait...... The Cubs can't trade a player to themselves.

Love D-Lee. But it would be nice to see him go to a place that he has a shot.

Doesn't seem likely he'd be back in Chicago next year anyway.

There's a certain irony in this given you're a Chiefs fan.....

I don't think the cubs want him back.

If this is true, I'm not convinced it is good thinking. Lee's glove alone makes him valuable. It isn't very often that you get a player with such great range with his foot on the bag and so adept at making the tough pick out of the dirt. He's smart, unflappable and a quiet team leader. He turns way too many errors into outs to discount.

I'm not totally convinced that his struggles at the plate are irreversable either.

    Just my opinion.

watch out, the Chiefs are becoming a dark horse candidate in the AFC West. I believe!!!

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

If by "dark horse" you mean "night mare", you are probably right!

part of the reason dlee probably won't be back is look at the ryan howard contract. good, experienced first basemen will want to get near the big money howard got and the cubs probably won't want to pay derrek that

Yeah, but the numbers Lee put up this year aren't going to earn him a Howard-esque contract. IMO, the Cubs need DLee for the sole purpose of making our infield not suck, but at this point, I'm ready to blow up the roster.

Exactly....this aging club is not going to win the WS anytime in the future. Lee,Lilly,Z,A Ram, Byrd, and anyone else over 31 or 32 need to be shipped. (IF the trade is right, not just trade them to trade them)

His contract is up and they aren't going to give him another one.
