    Diet plans/pills?

    I need suggestions for a diet plan, pill that works quickly. I would like to loose 10 pounds before RAGBRAI in a week and a half. Anyone have a suggestion for something that worked for them?

    Breakfast:
    -2 eggs scrambled with tomato, mushroom and green pepper. avocado on the side
    -1/4 cup blueberries
    -banana

    Snack:
    -Protein shake
    -Handful of veggies
    -Apple

    Lunch:
    -4 oz chicken breast
    -salad greens with light dressing

    Snack:
    -Fruit
    -Almonds
    -Protein shake

    Dinner:
    -8 oz chicken breast or steak
    -grilled asparagus or zucchini
    -carrots

    No pop, sports drinks, processed food, fast food, or really any type of grain carbs (bread, pasta, etc) You will want to take in some a day or 2 before you take off though.

    I doubt you will lose 10 pounds, but it will help.

    Or this will get you pretty close to 10 pounds, try this for 3-4 days:

    1. Eat two eggs for breakfast (if frying, only use a little cooking spray, but poached is best). Eat some raw green vegetables with the eggs.

    2. For the rest of the day, eat Unlimited Raw Green Vegetables (no peas) & unlimited lean meats (chicken breast, turkey greek yogurt, fish, sirloin). No Pork or deli meats

    3. Eat a half an orange in the morning and half in the afernoon

    4. Drink 80+ oz of water each day.

    5. You can use a little seasoning on your food, but only a very little salt.

    After 4 days of this, just eat very healthy for he remaining week (or follow the plan in the post above), limiting your carbs and salt intake. Keeping drinking 80 oz of water a day.

    This will get you pretty close, I would guess. (from my own personal experiences)

    I've done RAGBRAI ten times. I counsel you to not to diet or reduce your intake this close to the ride. You will screw your body up to the point you will not be able finish your rides.

    Use the week of riding as a springboard for a diet once you come back. That would work much better.

    If you are older that 35, I'd also stop in and see the doc before the ride just to get thumbs up - I've seen too many EMS crews carting away guys who haven't.

    This. Do not alter your body's makeup right before an event such as RAGBRAI. The amount of energy you will need will come from what you are trying to lose in that 10 lbs. If you drop 10 lbs of bodyweight right before riding your bike that many miles, you are losing valuable energy sources and water. You will have a hard time completeing the days and if it's hot, will probably end up getting carted out from exhaustion.
    Cutting weight for RAGBRAI should have been done months ago. Not a week and a half before it. I would recommend maintaining body weight and just trying to get your legs in shape, this will help a lot more rather than trying to lose 10 lbs on your bike. (and honestly, its really too late to do anything, whether its lose weight or get into shape. Cutting weight is the last thing you want to do. I would just try to stay as healthy as possible, stay lose and in shape, and eat well.)
