    Who hates Mediacom?

    As I'm sitting here my cable is out. It goes out lately about every two or three weeks at about this time at night for about 3 hours. I e-mailed mediacom about this and they advised me to buy their DVR package and tape shows during the day, then watch them at night. Needless to say I raked their a****. I want to here other mediacom experiences and who is the best provider.

    I like their product....as long as everything is working ok. If you have a problem, their service levels and their customer service is absolutely terrible. If they had some competition there is not way they would get away with it. I own my own business and I would be out of business so fast if my service levels were that bad.

    15 minutes on hold at this time of night is not a good sign.

    According to the broken English on the other end, there is currently a problem with their DVR system (this is in central Iowa) which, for me, has resulted in:
    *no menu/settings access
    *no DVR access
    *no "info" access

    I'm with you. Their service is horrible. My cable is sketchy at best and the On Demand menu system's speed is equivalent to the internet in 1997. I have never waited less than a half hour on hold when calling for service, ever. I've been a customer for 9 years. I would get DTV but the foliage in my backyard is too tall for a dish, or at least that's what they tell me...

    Internet is awesome.
    Phone service is meh. (I'd say it's good, but when the cable is out, the phone is usually out too. Then how are you going to call them?)
    TV is good, if you don't compare it to Dish or DirecTV. Otherwise it's meh.
    Customer service is one of the absolute worst things I've ever dealt with.

    Fortunately, I've only had issues with them a handful of times.

    I have to tell you that i'm not all the way comfortable talking to someone named jumbopackage. I'm just your average guy, but I agree with you.

    While attending ISU I had Mediacom for a couple years. I used to write "I Hate Mediacom" in the memo section on every single check I sent them. It gave me pleasure just to write it even though I know it wasn't worth the time it took me to do it. It made me feel better.

    Worthless? How so? Minus a few problems that occurred during some wicked winter storms, I have had zero problems with their internet service. I can't comment on their cable service, for I don't have cable. Or a dish.

    With that said, if my local provider(Liberty Communications) had ESPN3 as part of their package, I would probably switch. Until then, I will stick to Mediacom for my internet.
