    Looking to eliminate Qwest

    Hello Fanatics

Live in the DM area and considering eliminating our phone line with Qwest and just use the cell phones. However, any thoughts on economical internet and even wireless options for the internet?

    Thoughts and input appreciated,

    Z

I would agree with the above posts. I can't believe we haven't had a mediacom bashing yet, maybe it's just the cable they hate.

    Re: Looking to eliminate Qwest

You could go to Mediacom, but it's not cheap (unless you have your cable through them as well).

Or you could just stick with Qwest. There's no requirement to have voice service with them to have your internet with them.

I have to agree with this poster. My wife and I have US Cellular phones and a Qwest data line with the 1.5 DSL service for internet. We have been quite happy with both.

It's cheap for the first 6 months (around $30), but that price doubles.

weird, my 1.5 has been around $30 for 5 years.

I'd pay more if I could get faster speeds, so I may switch to cable anyways, but I will say dsl has never been down for me.

    Re: Looking to eliminate Qwest

About a year ago I went from Qwest 1.5 DSL to mediacom. I was sick of waiting for Qwest to install fiber in my location. I also dropped our phone and went with ooma voip. Mediacom is a lot faster for downloads but for uploads it kind of sucks.

Both Qwest DSL and mediacom HSI have been stable for me. I've never really had any problems. Now their cable is a whole different story.

All the people that would bash mediacom are waiting for their internet to come back up.

I pay like $35 for Qwest 7.0. It's been great, and I also have no phone service.
