I was also minding my own business...

...and a kid comes buy trying to sell me magazines. I politely said "No thanks, and good luck." He said "thank you for the time," smiled, and went on his merry way.

Use water balloons shot with a bazooka if the kids bother you.

Did you ask him how to launder money?

G-damn kids these days. I mean to think that a kid would have the stones to try to sell an adult some magazines shows just how disrespectful and undisciplined kids have become.

When I was growing up, every adult in my neighborhood was allowed to punish unruly children (even if they weren't your own) in whatever way they saw fit.

Smart off to adult and you were looking at having a rottweiler set loose on your scrawny ***. Make fun of a Wal-Mart greeter and a random adult, strapped no less, might pummel you into oblivion. If you were lucky, you'd just get a severe pistol whipping. Set foot on a well manicured lawn and a concealed bear trap might be waiting to take off your foot.

I once blocked some dorky adult on the bike path from passing and then taunted him after he passed. Next time out, a Burmese tiger pit was waiting for me. Boy, was I sorry when those sharpened spikes tore through my limbs. (An aside: the adult in question turned out to be the one and only Bill Brasky).

But I learned my lesson: Adults that claim kids these days are far worse than they were as kids, and who go around meting out vigilante type justice to random kids probably aren't worthy of any respect in the first place.
