NCAA rule I think would help ISU (and Iowa too)

I think the NCAA should make a rule that would state that players would only have to be on campus during the semester in which the football season occurs in. Therefore, they could go home and take online or JUCO classes during the second semester. Ames is probably too cold for the CA and TX players so they could just come home during the second semester and come back during the football season. I think the gap between the Big 12 North and Big 12 South would close if a rule like this were to be implemented.

only problem with this is that many schools, like ISU, require so many credits to be completed at the actual school, more than half of them, in order for them to graduate. student also have to take the final 30 or so credits at the school as well unless they can get a waiver which wouldnt be done just to get more recruits to ISU

    Indeed.

Aside from these limitations, why would you want 'part time' Cyclones? A rule like this would only make a bigger joke of the whole 'student-athlete' concept than it currently is..

well maybe ISU could offer online courses that the players could take during the second semester to get caught up

Honestly, I think this may be the future (or present) at many schools.

lets show more favortism towards athletes than we already do....that sets a good standard. this would ruin college academics. and btw ISU is an academic first, sports second college. there is also training that football players do in the spring that couldnt be kept track of if they went home

Or the NCAA could at least keep up the facade that they care at least a little about the athlete's education. While it is an excellent business, it's based on the principle of "Education First," and a rule like this would only further expose the NCAA's favoritism towards it's major sports rather than the education the athletes are receiving.
