Re: Tim Foyd at it again

Sounds like he's dancing right along the edge of the rules, but still within them, however shady that might appear.

To think there is still a good number of people here that wanted him When GMac left.

Re: Tim Foyd at it again

So how is it any different then if Otz would have left and some of our recruits went with him? I'm sorry, but this seems to be something that always happens spun against Tim because of his past experience. Coaches get hired as assistants because of what they can land. That is probably an unofficial part of their resume!

I am excited about CFH, but I would have settled for Floyd.

Seemed like a lot more people were interested in Eustachy. Although, many of us secretly wanted them on the bench together coaching in tandom

Re: Tim Foyd at it again

this is not a big deal. BB recruiting is on the edge, the schools that live there tend to win. It is not right, but it is the current enviorment. Back in the mid 90s Floyd said he was disgusted with the influence of shoe companies and such and that was on of the reasons he wanted to get into the NBA, he did not want to have to recruit anymore. When he came back, he knew to win he had to play the game. Looks like he went to far though. My question is when is it going to catchup with coaches like Drew at Baylor and Martin at KSU?

Re: Tim Foyd at it again

Definitely wanted him and I don't understand what the problem is(with this specific story, obviously USC wasn't good). The only reason it's a story is because it's UTEP. Kansas can employ every parent of a Top Recruit in the state of Iowa and it's no big deal, because obviously hiring a coach is steering a recruit WAY more than hiring a parent. The NCAA loves Duke, UCLA and whatever other big schools lost out on those recruits so they are trying to make something out of it.

He doesn't do anything against the rules. If NCAA don't like it, they should create a new rule

Agree. Additionally, wasn't Otz only a year removed as an Assistant JC coach that had several players we were recruiting including Mike T? Also, wasn't Craig (and other recruits) involved in a AAU program that Otz was associated with (question...not a statement:)? Point being that the recruiting game is about connections and as long as there are loop holes, coaches will take advantage of them.

Do we really need another NCAA rule that they will only enforce on the little guys?

I am happier with CFH but if that option wasn't available I would have taken Timbo in a flash. He will do a great job for UTEP.
