    What If - Miami Heat

The heat need to sign some players for cheap.

I think that Curtis Stinson should get a look as a back-up point guard.

Who could they go for as a pure shooter?

Do you think Tinsley is still being considered as a back up PG?

Mike Miller probably fills the shooter role if the rumor is true that he's agree to sign.

Stinson would be a decent backup option. That'd be sweet.

I think Chris Mullin still has some good years left in him.

You do realize that he is close to pushing 50 years of age.

Agreed. I think they should go the route of surrounding the Triumvirate with Euros from the 90s, mainly for their spot up shooting and solid passing. First picks have to be Toni Kucoc, Detlef Schremph, Vlade Divac, Arvydas Sabonis and the linchpin in the whole thing, none other than the Dunking Dutchman himself, Rik Smits.

Of course, the all American born white guy angle is intriguing as well. Start with Mullin, but then toss in Rex Chapman, Mark Price, either Tom Gugliotta or Tom Chambers (I like Chambers), and cap it off with some ISU flair, none other than Mr. Jeff Hornacek.

Now there's a team of role players.

And a kick-*** flat top is the icing on the cake.
Did that guy above think I was serious? Has it come to this? A guy can't drop a sarcastic Chris Mullin plug without using a stupid sarcasm pirate?

In their prime, that wouldn't have been a half-bad team actually. Have you seen video of the pre-NBA Sabonis with the Soviet team and good knees? He was a beast!

How do you so haphazardly snub Craig Ehlo in this discussion?

They'd also give up 125 a game, but they'd have the potential to score 145 on good nights, so it all balances out.

Also, in Bill Simmons book, he mentions that NBA GMs in the late 80s thought Saba could have been as good as David Robinson.

Is that book pretty decent? I keep meaning to go check that out.

That doesn't surprise me. I just remember watching a T-Wolves versus Blazers game as a kid and they showed video from the 80s of him on the national team and he was destroying guys in the post. Really makes you wonder what could've been if the foreign player trend had started earlier.
