Marquis Gilstrap/Curtis Stinson Summer League report from 7-5

I know that a lot of you were buzzing about this yesterday so I thought I'd post Marquis' and Curtis' stats from yesterday's NBA Summer League action.

Gilstrap played 10 minutes for Charlotte. He went 1-of-5 from the field, scoring four points and recording one rebound.

Stinson recently received an invite from Orlando. In his summer league debut, Curtis played 18 minutes and scored four points while going 2-of-2 from the field. Stinson also dished out two assists while picking up a steal in the Magic's 86-77 loss to the Pacers.

It would be nice to have another Cyclone playing in the NBA. I hope both of these guys can make it soon. Stinson has played well in the D-League....hopefully he can get picked up.

Stinson might have a real outside shot as good pgs are always in demand, but I don't think Gilstrap really has a chance. Athletic bigs are a dime a dozen in the NBA, and his poor ball handling skills aren't going to help his case.

Yeah, totally agree. Stinson has the best chance here. He has put in some nice time in the D-League and hopefully has turned some heads. Getting on Orlando's squad would be cool too since they are a strong eastern conference team.....

The Magic just signed Chris Duhon for 4 years/$15 million. They also have Jameer Nelson under contract at PG. With those two veterans, I am guessing that they will go after a younger third PG. Curtis' best shot to stick is with the Raptors. He is on their squad for the Vegas summer league next week. They are lacking PG depth and could use a strong, veteran like Curtis.

As for Quez, it's going to be a very tough road to make a roster.

Yeah I just saw that they signed Duhon. I don't get why they didn't go harder after Steve Blake. Blake took 4 years/16 M from the Lakers and is a much better backup pg than Duhon. Duhon is a terrible shooter and turns it over way too much, Toronto has been trying to move Calderon too so hopefully Stinson gets a long look from them.

If you have NBA TV on your cable or satellite system, you can watch all of the games this summer there. In fact the Magic's and Bobcat's next games are both today. Schedule shows Magic game at noon Central, and the Bobcats' game at 2 pm Central today. At least that is the time they are showing on the West coast.

You can also watch the games online at Watch Online TV, Sports, News and Entertainment for free at channelsurfing.

Craig is playing in the summer league for the Hornets right?

He is supposed to be, I believe. The Hornets' first game is not until Friday.

I'd just like to point out something here many people forget about Summer League. Just because you are on a team's roster doesn't mean you HAVE to be picked up by them. Meaning Orlando could tell Stinson "sorry," but right after that another team could just swoop him up if they like how he plays.

I watched allot of Gilstrap's game. His handle has to get better if he is going to make it, its allot worse than I remembered it being.

I'd say give him a few games but unfortunately Summer League only goes on for a week (two leagues)?

Gilstrap played 1:30 today, missed a three, grabbed two defensive rebounds, turned the ball over once, and amassed a +/- of -5.

Stinson got a dreaded DNP-CD today.

A lot of people tried blaming Greg for his ball handling by saying that there wasn't enough spacing in our offense. I never bought it. He couldn't dribble no matter where he was on the court.
