    Dickey V

    I was in Vegas this weekend and I happened to run into Dick Vitale...man he is getting old. I spoke to him briefly about ISU and the new direction and he seemed to question the hire of Fred. His option...but he felt there were better options for ISU. He did say that he wished HB would have gone to ISU and helped bring back Hilton Magic.
    Dick did say he wants to visit Hilton before he is done and wants to experience the magic. He did speak very highly of Johnny Orr and his success at ISU during his time.

    I'm pretty sure this video has to be posted in any thread mentioning both Johnny Orr and Dick Vitale ... it's state law

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SfWN1AleyI]YouTube - Orr tells Vitale off[/ame]

    I'm on twitter @mookjnsn ... me, not her.

    I don't doubt what he told you, but I can't believe that he was being honest about the HB situation. If he controlled the decision, HB would be attending Duke.

    The truth is just that he didn't want HB to go to UNC.

    How many times did he use the word "baby" in the course of a normal conversation?

    Or misuse "notoriety," which he does routinely?

    He's seventy - one. I suppose he's entitle to look a little shopworn. :-)

    Interesting. None of this surprises me.

    Any logical, rational person would have to have some questions as to the hiring of FH...he has zero coaching experience.

    With respect to HB, the press (and Vitale) would have loved that story...hometown kid stays at home and brings back the glory. Typically, they don't have to worry about UNC and Duke getting enough talent to be very competitive year in and year out.

    Lastly, the selection show video aside (which is always great to watch, by the way), Dick Vitale knows who made ISU into a relevant and successful MBB school...Johnny Orr.

    You know, several years ago I had really tired of Vitale. Then he missed a bunch of time due to health reasons and I realized that, while he is certainly over the top a lot, the man has been ultra successful because he truly has a passion and love for the game and he just can't help showing it. I don't mind him nearly as much any more.

    I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
