    Favorite to win basketball

Brandon Rush's decision to withdraw from the NBA draft, must establish Kansas as the favorite to win the conference and one of the top national contenders. They will return all but one of their 14 players who won the Big 12 three years running. Of course, the decision made have been influenced by a knee injury that Rush sustained in a pickup game.

They would probably have been the favorite without Rush too. They have been consistently strong under Self, but for some reason don't seem as dominant as Kansas teams under Williams. I don't know if that is true or not, but they seem more beatable. Might be just a perception issue.

I agree.. they are still a very tough team.. but they lack that swagger they had when they were coached by williams...

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Well, Roy took care of the home court better. Winning in the Phog used to REALLY mean something, but now it's just a good road win IMO. Seems like they always have a bad loss or two in the non-conference, but part of that is the youthful teams Bill Self has had at KU.

FYI - Rush has torn ACL and will be out up to about 6 mths... probably won't get back into rhythm until conf play starts.
