    2007 Recruiting Class

Looking through this recruiting class, I honestly don't know how ISU was able to pull out 7 wins last year and is expected to compete fairly well this year. The guys that were recruited as high school seniors would have been juniors or seniors assuming they didn't redshirt. Help me out here but of all these guys, I think Osemele and Black are the only ones still at ISU

Cameron Bell---Transferred to Northern Illinois to play RB
    Phillip Bates---Transferred to Ohio
Randy Kellman---Transferred to St. Francis (PA)
    Anthony Green---???
Fabian Brown---Went to Iowa Central, never made it to campus
    Curtiz Mathis---???
    Trey Baysinger---???
James Carpenter---Went Juco, now at Alabama
    Joseph Klerekoper---???
    AJ Matthews---???
Alex Sandvig---not sure why he got a scholarship to begin with but got hurt anyway

All of the Juco guys are gone except Alvarez. It is just interesting that ISU can put a decent product on the field without guys that have been in the program for awhile. Only 3 of 24 guys in that recruiting class are still with the team.

Baysinger has been a back-up/fill-in guy on the line for the last 2 years. Although one of them he might have been hurt.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

Yeah Baysinger was here. Also, keep in mind the coaching change associated with that class.

Keep in mind that class was recruited by DMac and then Chizik. A tough situation to say the least so you would expect plenty of attrition. Then throw in another coaching change. Heck, even Jesse Smith was ready to call it quits after chizdick left

Yeah I understand the coaching change(s) but I think it should make all ISU fans appreciate the job that Rhoads has done. It is not easy to win games in the Big 12 without upperclassmen/leaders in your program.

Well, Cameron will be back in Ames for the first game. Looks like he might be a load to bring down at 6' 2", 243 lbs.

Yeah, but at your positions where you need leadership, we had it. AA, ARob, JS and JS all were great leaders in positions where leaders need to be.

    Re: 2007 Recruiting Class

Interesting I like the post, I like the articles where they grade the classes 2,3,4 yrs down the line, although I don't pay for premium content. How can anyone grade this class w/ only 3 players who stayed? It makes me very excited to see how our team will look under year 3/4 of CPR! It just seems like he's got how to recruit, to/at ISU, figured out. Don't waste time w/ the kids u can't get(yet) then scramble at the end to fill holes. Look for the best the big dogs aren't.

Your missing quite a few guys though, I guess most were Jucos but there were a lot more members of that class than you listed.

Am I the only one that sees that list and thinks that maybe we haven't felt the effects of that attrition yet? We haven't played this year yet.....

Look through past classes and it isn't just that year. We had a lot more like it over the years and still seem to put teams on the field. Really hurts the depth though.

Ah but the 2008 class is still looking very good -- could be one of the best since the Earle Bruce days.
