This is great for him. Good job. However The Medal of Honor should have been awarded several more times than it actually is. They gave them out much more frequently than they do now for things that are the same. We always said you pretty much have to jump on a grenade to be awarded with it now and you basically have to die.

Men like this make me proud to be an American. He deserves a hell of a lot more then the medal of honor...

I hope he receives the award and continues to show others around him to be as valiant and heroic as himself.

He graduated a year before I did from Kennedy High School. I didn't know him personally but I remember the guy!

My former place of residence for 20 years and served on City council for 8 years. He even graduated from my old High School. I hope he is the one getting the CMA!

He looks a little young to have served on the City council for 8 years before serving two tours overseas.

Re: Hiawatha Soldier May Receive Medal of Honor

Congratulations to him; it's an honor above all others that he'll have for the remainder of his life. This award confers an honorary rank of Colonel in the Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps, and Captain in the Navy. All applicable honors and salutations will be rendered so long as he has the medal.

I knew a MOH winner when I was in the Navy. Our ship's lead Engineman (engine/diesel mechanic) won it during 'Nam. Every time he left the ship, or arrived on board, the Petty Officer of the Watch was required to ring him with four bells as our Ship's Captain and any other command rank officer. He was serving on river patrol during the action that won him the honor. River patrol in 'Nam was a deadly business, and our sailors and marines were almost always under fire.

Again, a great honor if Congress chooses to bestow the medal to him.

I agree. These are the people who should be getting multi-million dollar endorsement deals rather than some guy who simply plays a sport well.

He'll be able to cash in believe me. There will be no shortage of high paying job offers for him. Most any company loves to have the privilege, and positive pub, of having a MOH winner on their payroll.

alright, not against this guy deserving a reward, but give sport athletes credit, they devote their lives to be good in their respective sports, very few are willing to commit that much effort into anything. Nothing wrong with them getting paid millions

Re: Hiawatha Soldier May Receive Medal of Honor

I am a history-military buff and plan on joining ROTC after high school. I love the fact that if you lie about recieving the MOH you can be put in jail, that's how prestigous it is. God Bless this soldier, many others should have recieved this award but maybe if he recieves it, he will recieve it for all of the brave men and women in the different branches of the military.
