    NBA free agency

The Hawks are expected to do their best to keep Johnson, a free agent, by offering their top scorer a maximum contract in Thursday's early morning meeting in Los Angeles.

Richard Jefferson has opted out of the final season of his contract.
Jefferson would have earned $15.2M in the final year of his contract.

The Lakers decided Wednesday not to give restricted guard Jordan Farmar a one-year, $3-million qualifying offer.
Farmar will become an unrestricted free agent.

As the Knicks send their lead officials to recruit Joe Johnson, Amar'e Stoudemire and LeBron James, the New York Post reports that the team will send other front office members to meet with Kyle Korver, Mike Miller and Ray Allen.

Wow, I can't believe Richard Jefferson opted out. Does he really think he's gonna get a $15 M offer after how he played last season? He must just really hate playing in San Antonio.
