Next season could be ugly for the Bulls.

Thought this article was kind of scary.

Time to consider Bulls' worst-case scenario - Chicago Bulls Blog - ESPN Chicago

I guess that scenario could happen to any team that is in the free-agency sweepstakes. If this "worst-case scenario" were to play out for Chicago, does that open the door for Carmelo in 2011 to Chicago? Any other big names on the market for 2011 that we could rebound on? If Miami gets Bosh, Lebron, and Wade it would spell the end for every other team in the Eastern Conference for at least the next four years.

I really doubt they walk away from this with no big names, but even if they do, they made the right choice. They've been a 40-45 win teamsthat loses in the first round every year for the last five years or so, you gotta take a shot at being great when you can.

If LeBron goes elsewhere, does Chicago trade for Carmelo and then sign Stoudamire and possibly Joe Johnson? Is that even possible? I thought it would be because trading for Melo wouldn't effect the salary cap, correct? Last thought... Who would we trade? I was thinking Deng for sure then maybe either or a combination of a first round pick and Gibson.

There is no way in hell Denver takes that for Carmelo.

Looks like Atlanta is going to offer Joe Johnson a max contract, which is really dumb.

I hear the knicks are doing the same for him.

I bet the Bulls will too if it starts to look like LeBron isn't coming.

yep. These rumors that Lebron and Bosh are going to join Wade in Miami just won't go away.... Stephen A Smith said he had a source that said they pretty much had a handshake agreement in place.

Trading Deng would be best for us which was the reason I threw his name in there. Denver said that they are prepared to trade Melo this off-season if he doesn't resign. If they can't re-sign him and he goes elsewhere next off-season they get nothing for him. I'm sure a first round pick and Deng and/or Gibson will be gladly accepted.

No way. Deng has a bad contract. The last thing Denver would want is to get an overpaid player back in return. They would be able to work out a much better sign and trade deal next summer if they can't resign him, plus trading him now would just be giving up on a team that was just a couple of games away from the finals two years ago.

Deng - 6 years, 71 mil. If he was valuable enough to be the main piece in an Anthony trade, he wouldn't be (unsuccessfully) shopped as simply cap relief. The Nuggets would take the cap space before they took Deng back for Anthony.

Re: Next season could be ugly for the Bulls.

I just hope they don't panic if they can't get LeBron and Bosh and start going after the mid tier guys in the free agency class. If the Bulls ended up going after Joe Johnson and Boozer, I and I'm pretty sure Joakim Noah will be ******.

The Free Agent class of 2011 is pretty solid as well, I'd prefer they sit back and wait on it and take a shot at a Carmello/Battier combination (Or get wild and take a run at Durant, even though he is restricted). No where near as good, but still better than Joe Johnson/Boozer in my mind.

Hell, most of the back to back Gators team will be free agents in 2011, might as well get the old crew back together for Noah.

Because nothing says championship contender like a back court of Taurean Green and Corey Brewer.

I'm salivating at the thought of it.
