Brian Shaw to be next Cavs coach
Yesterday, we covered Brian Shaw's trip to Cleveland to meet with the Cavs about their vacant head coaching position. I noted that while Shaw is a solid candidate, he might not want to take the job for fear that he'd miss out on becoming Lakers head coach if Phil Jackson retires.
Shaw must not have those concerns. Because according to Sam Amick of FanHouse, Shaw will accept Cleveland's offer to become their coach. Byron Scott was the other finalist, but the Cavs had clearly decided to go with the younger, less experienced, and ultimately more promising candidate
Re: Brian Shaw to be next Cavs coach
Maybe not so fast
Cleveland sure looks like one well oiled machine as they get ready to make their pitch to LeBron James for free agency.
After a couple days of hearing how it was just a matter of negotiating a deal with Lakers assistant Brian Shaw, it appears the tables have turned. Shaw was known to be reaching out to people as potential assistants, ones with triangle offense experience. But forget out it.
Byron Scott is now back in negotiations to be the head coach and is near a deal, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard. We're all awaiting confirmation for the Cleveland entrenched reporters, who have been saying Shaw is the man with the plan for 24 hours.
