"let them play to their strengths"

I noticed this comment several times in the article. I find this very heartening. I think the exceptional coaches are ones that can identify a player's strengths and weaknesses and play to their strengths. Poor coaches typically have a preconceived notion about a player and often try to turn them into something they are not.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

From what I know, it is highly unlikely that ISU will be taking this player of you speak of. Things could always change, but I doubt it.

I wonder what Hoiberg's honest opinion of Mcdermott is...not the politically correct opinion, but his true opinion that he only tells his family and closest friends.

I find Fred's attitude a refreshing change. It sounds like he is going to develop a system to play to his players strengths rather than tryimg to fit players into a 100 play offense.

I would expect it to be a positive/neutral one, if in fact he has any thoughts about GMac at all - outside the typical coach peer relationship. I would bet that Freddy hasnít even given GMac two seconds of thought since coming back to Ames. I get the feeling that Fred isnít the kind to waste any energy thinking about other peeps business. I certainly donít see him slagging on Gmac, even in private, if this is what you are asking.

I agree. Fred knows what Fed wants and he seems 100% dedicated to getting there. Maybe occasionally he thinks about McD, but i would imagine that Fred sees this as the rare opportunity to start with a clean slate, and tons of capital with the fans.

The Mayor has a "Mandate" and he seems to be using it well.
