i wouldn't be surprised to see Lew Perkins go back East, after he turned the KU Athletic Department into a toxic waste dump

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

If Pollard leaves soon, I will eat my hat. Why leave in the middle of building something great?

Re: Debbie Yow to NC State - will Pollard be a candidate for AD at Maryland?

I'm a grad student at NC State. It's kind of mixed feeling about Yow around here. She is the little sister of the legendary Kay Yow, but word has it that she was a terrible AD at Maryland. That will still be a step up from Fowler - our current AD.

I doubt Pollard will leave unless he gets a killer offer from one of the big names in collegiate athletics. Maryland is not exactly a "big name".

More than 20 NCAA championships in her 15 years, and they're not a big name? UMD is a top school on the east coast.

Maryland NCAA championships in last 15 years:

Oh boy, I'm real stoked about women's lacrosse and field hockey. Basketball... OK, but what about football, wrestling and baseball - the only three sports that really matter?

The only real benefit I see of having her as the new AD would be to rally the Pack fan base because of the Yow name, and maybe bring in some more donations. I don't foresee any coaching shakeups though. Hopefully I'm wrong. Maybe she'll have the marbles to fire Tom O'brien and bring in somebody that can actually get a .500+ football season after four years.

I really hope not.... I believe JP is a Midwestern guy. Part of the reason he wanted ISU was location in the Midwest. He has done a great job, and I hope he gets a raise and stays.

Maryland will be in the Big 10 in 3 years that could effect JP's thought process

If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team.

I don't think there's any chance of that. They're a founding member of the ACC. The only change I see them involved in would be for them to push expansion of the ACC into Big East Country so they aren't so far away from everyone.

And you do realize that Nebraska was a founding member of the Big 8, right? That didn't stop them from leaving. Not only that, but it's not like a founding member has never left the ACC before - South Carolina left for the SEC. Let's put it this way - founding member or no, if it makes financial sense for Maryland to leave the ACC for the Big 10, they're gone.

Simple question - how many NCAA team championships do we have in the past 15 years? NONE (last was in 1994 - XC)

Those non-revenue sports may not seem important to you, but they're huge in MD.

UMD - 61 million dollar athletic budget, 27 NCAA teams vs ISU 42 million dollar athletic budget and 16 NCAA teams. Jamie was part of the era where they dug the atheltic department out of a serious financial hole. I'm not advocating for him, but he was part of the administration that turned that department around.

Someone needs to take off their cardinal and gold colored glasses. Maryland has 29 undergraduate and graduate programs are ranked in the top 10 and 90 programs are in the top 25.

I've been to the campus and Maryland is a great school with tremendous athletic facilities.
