A thought and a question about McDermott

    1. First, the thought. Last night's draft just again drove home for me how terrible McDermott was as a coach. In 2008 he had the #4 and #21 overall picks in the NBA draft and still managed to not even achieve a winning record. Yes, Wes was hurt and blah, blah, blah, but the last time we had two first rounders on the roster, we went to the elite eight. McDermott didn't even manage to crack the top eight in the conference. I am so thankful that CRAYTON took this disaster of a coach off our hands.

    2. Next, the question. When McDermott left for CRAYTON, there was talk about how they were required to buy out the remainder of McD's contract for somewhere around $800K. I seem to recall CRAYTON claiming that they believed they didn't have to pay this amount. Does anyone know whether ISU ever received this money?

Are you trying to get on Matt P's nerves by spelling Creighton incorrectly?

Um, Creighton is most definitely paying the buyout.

Sportstalkmatt probably thinks Creighton should keep the 800k because Craig watched the draft at Fred's house.

You will get on his nerves a lot faster if you tweet it to him. If Twitter ever ends, Matt will be suicidal.

Re: A thought and a question about McDermott

I think it shows that TJ can recruit. GMac was trying to run UNI South. IMO he never really connected with the ISU job or understood how to make it successful. Fred summed it up when he said you cannot run a half court offense in the Big 12. GMac figured that out too late and is now in a place he can be very successful. No hard feeling towards Greg, and I wish him the best. He has to love coaching his son.

Re: A thought and a question about McDermott

it was probably a blessing in disguise that wes transferred, and mcdermott fell on his face....

Now our staff consists of someone who can energize the fan base (and hopefully coach), the man who brought these draft pick recruits here, and another assistant who is more qualified to be our coach than mcdermott was

McDermott in his 20 year carrer has won 1 conference title, kinda like Lane Kiffin, he has done nothing to deserve the money he has made.

I don't think Wesley and Craig actually played together, did they?

For one year: Wesley's sophomore (final ISU) season/Craig's first. The season where Wesley had the injury that changed things so much around here.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
