    Traveling to CU

    Hey guys,

Some of my friends and I were hoping to catch the very last ISU-CU game in Boulder next year. Has anybody ever driven out there? What should we expect? Google maps claims it's about 11 hours, how close is that?

Also, what's the tailgating like? Would we need to know someone? Is anybody else going out there that we could meet up with?

    Any advice is really appreciated.

    Thanks!

You can get there faster than that if you haul *** once you get west of Lincoln, NE.

    Re: Traveling to CU

I went two years ago. Boulder was fun but I thought the tailgaiting/crowd was lame. Others have said the opposite, however. Stadium is pretty old, but watching the buffalo run out was pretty entertaining.

Four of us are going, long boring drive, flights out of Omaha are $160 right now and of course you need a rental car. Also Chiefs-Donkeys game on Sunday.

Games in Boulder are fun if you dont shoot yourself once west of lincoln and until you get to Denver. Several good Microbreweries in Boulder also.

    Re: Traveling to CU

If you want to tailgate with Cyclone Fans (and some Buffs), go to the Millenium Harvest House Hotel. Stay there too if you really want to make it easy. It is the official alumni association tailgate and it is a good time. I can't recall the cost but it was easy to get food and beer. They have big TVs setup and music on. It is fun.

    Re: Traveling to CU

There is already a decent sized group of ISU fans here in Denver that were planning on going out there for it. I'm sure you will find some Clone fans to kick it with.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

I took the trip out there twice in college hit this tailgate up both times it is definitely what you should do. The hotel has a big courtyard that they have it in both years I went it was all Cardinal and gold there.

    Re: Traveling to CU

Yes, I guess I meant "this" year. I still refer to it as "next" because it hasn't started yet.

The Millenium tailgate sounds great, but is it the night before, or before the game (or both?) We'd be leaving Ames right after class (about 1:30PM) and starting to drive out there. Depending on kick-off we'd probably have to head back to Ames fairly shortly for Monday classes (starting to sound like an epic road-trip weekend though)

Thanks for the advice guys, we're really looking forward to this, and you're making it sound more and more do-able!

Before the game. Not sure what time it starts. You can walk to the stadium from the hotel in about 15 minutes.

Been there twice, in 02 and 04. The 2002 game was complete with a streaker wearing a g-string

    Re: Traveling to CU

There is a LARGE contingent of ISU alums here on the front range. Yesterday morning I saw someone wearing a Cyclone Shirt at Target, then I heard a motorist yell "Go Cyclones!" at me as I was driving through Red Rocks just a couple of hours later. Loved it!
