OT: What is your favorite restaurant?

    What are everyone's favorite restaurants?

Mine is Granite City and Huhot in West Des Moines. Spaghetti Works downtown would round out my top 3.

In Ames, I loved La Fuente and Great Plains.

I've heard good things about their Sunday Brunch.

You guys need to get away from the chains... Chicago Speakeasy, Waterfront, Ohana, The Continental, Christopher's, Taco Casa, El Aguila Real and Iowa Beef Steakhouse... Best Sunday Brunch, Tournament Club of Iowa...

and my personal fave... Felix and Oscar's

I'm only factoring in ease of getting to and downright unhealthiness, but I've been eating a lot of Cocost Chinese on Welch lately.

O.k., so it's not technically a restaurant, but for a quick, awesome, fat-filled burger, B-Bops is the absolute top.

Pretty much sums up my list, I'll add Jimmy Johns to this too. I live in a town that only has a Subway if you want a sub. Jimmy Johns puts Subway to shame.

Re: OT: What is your favorite restaurant?

All around favorite - Johnny's Italian Steakhouse - parmesean encrusted ribeye - yowzers!

Italian - Latin King, Cosi Cucina, Sam & Gabes, Yanni's. Really used to like Tumea & Sons, but it's been hit and miss the last few times.

Mexican - Mazatlan, Monterey, haven't been there in a while but El Patio used to be great. fav used to be Cazadors before they moved out of WDM

Pizza - Great Plains, Orlandos, chain - Happy Joes.

    Burgers/Diner food - B-Bops, North End/Drake Diner.

Oriental - HuHot, Cafe Su, Thai Flavors. Looking for good take out in WDM, help appreciated - We used to do China Garden (?) on 50th and EP True - that's gone WAY downhill on us.

Pub food - Granite City (a little better than pub), Court Ave, Raccoon River, Felix and Oscars

Bar food - Library Cafe, Orlandos, High Life Lounge/El Bait Shop

BBQ - Big Daddy's, baby! Nobody else even comes close.

Re: OT: What is your favorite restaurant?

    In the Quad Cities:
    The Machine Shed (Davenport)
Thunder Bay Grille (Davenport) (incredible Sunday brunch)
    Biaggi's (Davenport)
The Bier Stubbe (Moline) (they serve German pints!!!)
    Texas Roadhouse (Davenport)

And of course, in Ames, who can forget Hickory Park? That place is PETA's worst nightmare!!! (unless it stands for People for the Eating of Tasty Animals, then it's a dream come true)

Re: OT: What is your favorite restaurant?

    Latin King, Tumea's, Beratta's.

Also BBQ is Big Daddy's but it's not open anymore (well friday's for Lunch).

I also Like Taco's at Tasty Taco's and Henry J's.

Also Riccelies on Indianola is fantastic and cheap.

For Pizza Nobody and I mean nobody beat Scornavaca's on e. 14th. La Pizza house is good.

Re: OT: What is your favorite restaurant?

Man too many to name here in town but I'll ditto the Chicago SpeakEasy and Johnny's Italian Steakhouse reccomendations. I've never been to Sam and Gabes but hear that it is great as well. All 3 can be a little pricey but the quality is tremendous. Jordan Creek has some good places to eat too.

And for a local non-chain fast food mexican there is Tasty Tacos in Des Moines. Yummy, I have one about 10 blocks from me that I frequent when I'm too lazy to make dinner.
