    Serbia upsets Germany

Serbia beats Germany 1-0. They got pretty lucky as Klose (one of Germany's best player) got sent home with a very bad 2nd yellow card in the first half.

Nonetheless, that is great news for the USA if they end up getting 2nd in their pool. They might not have to run into the Germans who I still think have a good chance to win it all.

That ref was handing out yellow cards like candy. He must still be butt hurt from Spain losing.

    Re: Serbia upsets Germany

If nothing else, this shows that whoever comes out of that group is beatable for the US (provided we come out of our group). I thought a matchup with Germany, sans Ballack was very favorable anyway, but watching the match today, Serbia showed a blue print for beating Germany.

If the US wins today, could be looking at a run to the quarters and a potential match up with Argentina? One can dream right?

It's one thing if you are the type of ref that gives out a LOT of cards, but he was very inconsistent. In the 2nd half he barely gave out yellow cards for things that he was giving them for in the 1st half.

If by blue print you mean get a German player to get a red card, and then have advantage, and have more luck then Germans then I agree.

This is bad news for my drinking-buddy (an Aussie). Not too much hope for his team advancing to the second round.

    Re: Serbia upsets Germany

NOTHING upsets me more than a ref deciding on the out come of a game in 26 minutes. BS fouls being called, then non really in the second half...the yellow cardsd stacked up on the main German players....this could be bad with them playing Ghana next. As for the refs, it was obvious that they wanted Germany to lose and wanted to have Serbia be the upset nation. Heck it has not been since 1986 when Germany lost inthe first rounds, and it has not been since 1953 since they lost to the low life cheating bastards of the Serbian FOOTBALL TEAM. YES I WAS HOPING FOR A MAJOR VICTORY, BUT WHEN THESE FOOLISH AND INCONSISTANT CALLS CAME IN I KNEW THERE WOULD BE A LOSS. As for Spain, I hoppe they wont make it out of there bracket. As for Serbia.... you could not even score a second goal with over 60 minutes left in the game and YOU were up by one player. That should tell you the might of the German team....anyway... enough rants.... Referee's 1-Germany 0
