I think they should let the players chose when they want to go pro. Just get rid of the rule.

Agreed OR make it like football and have them be out of HS for 3 years. The one and done idea has destroyed the notion of 'student-athlete' for many programs.

I've said this for years. Either you go pro right away, OR if you choose college you have to give them at least 2 years.

I thought about letting them go pro right out of high school or have to stay in college for 3 years. It would be interesting but not sure how well it would work in basketball.

Just make it like baseball. Either leave after high school or you have to wait until after your sophmore year to be drafted again.

I would like to see a similar rule to football. 3 yrs out of high school. I think it would improve both college and NBA game. Colleges woud keep better players longer and NBA will have less risk in drafting young players. For every Lebron, Kobe and KG there are a lot of kids who go to NBA too early.

If Durant or Rose go pro right out of high school no one knows who they are, after a year in college they're stars when they come into the league. This rule has been very beneficial for the NBA so I doubt we see it change soon.

The reason football has the rule is because any 19 yr old would get killed in the NFL no way they are physically ready for the NFL.. not a chance. NBA is different.

Maurice Clarett would disagree with you... He'd be wrong, but he'd still disagree.

Baseball is actually after your junior year or 3 years removed from high school if you redshirt, but I do agree it should be like baseball.

Actually Stern wanted to make it 2 years but the players union wouldn't go for it. GMs hate having high school players ruin their draft, but big pressure is put on them to draft the "it" player. That's why the rule was inacted. They don't have any responsibility to make the decision with the best interests of the colleges in mind.

There was a player that skipped school and went straight to the D League this year. Perhaps they will treat the D League more like a minor league. I would think that would be good for both college and the pros.
