    USA vs. Slovenia

Pretty important match for the US. I'm not really expecting Bradley to make any changes, but personally I'd really like to see Torres replace Clark in the midfield.

I think that will be the one change, need more possession v Slovenia. Most important match of our 3 with Slovenia winning the other day. Lose and we're done.

I'm pretty sure that if any other goalkeeper in the world cup had taken the same kick in the ribs that Howard had, they would be in the hospital right now. I know I would.

This would be a pretty bad loss.

MUST win. If Slovenia beats us and comes out of this group I would be SHOCKED.

    Re: USA vs. Slovenia

I would love to see Torres, Buddle, Gomez, and maybe even Edu get some time. Buddle was cash money in all those warm-ups before the World Cup, and if Slovenia's goal is just to crowd the box because they're more than willing to settle for a tie, we'll need all the pressure we can get, which leads me to Torres, who seems to be the best ball handler we have on the team. And Gomez and Edu just bring a different energy and attitude - they play fearless.

While a tie certainly doesn't kill us tomorrow, if we want to advance in the knockout rounds we need to win the group, which means winning tomorrow. It's the difference between going up against Ghana/Serbia in R/16 and possibly Korea/Greece/Mexico/Uruguay in R/8 if we win group C, or going up against Germany in R/16 and, if we were lucky enough to survive that, Argentina in R/8. Winning or finishing second in Group C will likely determine whether we make our showing in the knockout round and bow out, or the possibility of making a run to finishing no worse than fourth in the World freaking Cup.

You know why everyone calls that tie against England a win? Because this very scenario is still available to the Americans if we win this group simply because we stole a point from England and cost them 2.

    Re: USA vs. Slovenia

So we either have to win or tie and then beat Algeria to advance?

Need to root for Algeria to tie or beat England also!
