    Accident Update

Hereís a brief update on my wife. She is doing better each day. She can talk and continues to improve her speech each day. She has periods where she is lucid and many when she's not so her speech doesn't always make sense. She's often times agitated, frustrated and emotional. She's still non-weight bearing on her legs due to her pelvis fracture (she had 5 fractures, including one that was fixed with a 80 mm screw, do the conversion on that length, it is big). Her jaw is still wired shut due to the broken jaw and the pins and plates that were put in her face so it is hard to tell when the speech is impeded by the wire and when itís the brain. My son is physically doing well. He has visited his mom on a number of occasions and seems to be adapting okay. My yellow lab that had a cantelope sized mass removed from his liver (and part of his liver too) seems to be doing well. My black lab broke the end of her tail off at the kennel and in frustration proceeded to knaw the end off, so it had to be amputated. Sheís doing well even with her stubby tail. People keep randomly bring me food and supplies, mostly beer and paper products. If my truck breaks down Iíll have a great country song. Thanks for all your kind words, thoughts and prayers.

I can only imagine your pain. I only wish I lived closer to you so I could be a true friend and help you. It seems however that you and the family are doing as well as can be. Keep the faith. IB

In addition to immediate family, friends, and others directly involved with your family - please know that there is a huge community pulling for your entire family.

Many of us don't know you. We have probably never had a conversation, but we are hoping and praying for you and your family.

Please know that in this very trying time that you not only have the support of the ones you love, but of people you hardly know. Take our strength - we are willing it to you - and persevere.

    Re: Accident Update

best wishes for you if u ever need anything let me know

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

God bless and my continued thoughts and prayers. There is a community around you and around here if you need anything, from the beer and food air drops to babysitting dogs on a weekend or something. I know my 2 yellow labs would be fine having company, hah.
