Re: Boozer Boys Coming to Town

Thanks for the article Chris. Did Charles himself mention the thought of possibly redshirting next season, or is that just what you think or have heard from others? Personally, I think Charles will surprise people. It may not happen next year, or even the year after that, but I really believe he will be a good player. And I don't even mean he will be All-Big 12, just that great knowledge of the game and an incredible work ethic can go a long way in basketball.

A team can only have so many superstars before its egos and chemistry will clash. You need guys who know their role and how to play within the system to help the team, and I think so far Greg has done a good job of trying to fit the pieces together.

Re: Boozer Boys Coming to Town

Hopefully we can impress Carlos with the Hilton Magic, and show him that his brother came to the right place. I'll be there playing my heart out!

And thank you Stumpy for this:

Re: Boozer Boys Coming to Town

Charles Boozer will bring at least one thing whether he turns out to be any good or not; more Sportcenter highlights of his brother watching our games, and possibly some additional televised games.

And if he works hard, he can play a role, possibly an important role on our team.

Re: Boozer Boys Coming to Town

Charles has never mentioned redshirting to me but I do know from my own sources that it's a decent possibility. But, if Charles has been working as hard as he says he has, anything can happen.

Re: Boozer Boys Coming to Town

I think it'd be good to redshirt somebody to space out the recruiting classes a little bit. I wouldn't mind Redshirting Eikmeier or somebody next year either especially if Eik still has to develop physically.

I guess Carlos Boozer is not a bad plan B to MJ. Cant wait to show him what Hilton Magic is all about.

Re: Boozer Boys Coming to Town

You know what would be funny is if Carlos would play a few games with Charles in the Cap. City league like the Korver boys did last year. Would give our big guys someone to really challenge them in the post and get them to play tougher. I know this is not going to happen but it would be pretty cool to watch if Carlos did play a few games like Kyle Korver did last year. Kyle was a man amongst boys for sure last summer.

Also, if Carlos Boozer is at Hilton for even a big game or two, those games are probably likely to have recruits in for a visit. Every basketball player in the country knows who Carlos Boozer is right now, can't hurt for recruiting purposes!

What a great family story. I'm really looking forward to next year. I'm sure Charles will do well.

Re: Boozer Boys Coming to Town

The Boozers are a really neat family. I was still at CN the night Charles committed and when I called his parents, I've never heard two more proud people in my life. The mom was going crazy. Everybody always dreamed for Charles to follow in big bros footsteps but I think they were all doubting it for quite a while.

Chris, any more skuttlebutt regarding Gibbs? I think Boozer will be a fan favorite. We want him to be good and if he's busting his tail we'll get behind him.

I thought you meant Homan and Vroman were back in town.

The Idea of Boozer Having to Redshirt Scares Me

I'll trust the staff, but if the coaches are considering redshirting Boozer- that makes me wonder about his ability.

I understand redshirting post players because some kids need the extra year for their athletic ability and physical strength to prepare for bigger post players every night.

However, Boozer has already had the equivalent of a redshirt year by attending prep school. To need a true redshirt year makes me wonder if he will ever be more than a role players. Also, the depth at guard won't get any less in the future with Buckley and Eikmeier coming in 2008.

With only one proven guard (Taylor & he's suspended), I would think Boozer has a great opportunity to play since the other guards have never played a college game.

The coachs may be thinking about positioning players for the future. Also before down rating Boozer I don't believe Chris was saying the coaching staff has said they are going to redshirt him. Also remember he has never played a college game either.
