NY Times: Texas' greed saved the Big 12

Good article about how Texas' insistence to the Pac 10 for their own private network and revenue sharing "sweeteners" prevented them from joining, and thus saved the Big 12.

Nice, I started a thread 2 weeks ago whether Texas would be willing to play second fiddle in Pac-10 (or Pac-16) plus having to play the other Big Dogs like USC, Oregon and some other competitive teams like UCLA and Cal. but the money was the deciding factor: would they be able to get the biggest chunk of revenue in the new conference ? I thought no, USC would get it.

Texas would have gotten the biggest chunk of income from the PAC 10 and yet it wouldn't have been as much as they now may earn from staying in the Big 12.

The Big Dogs in the PAC 10 aren't really that big of dogs on the national scene. USC is something like #25 in college revenue; the real big dogs all hail from the Big 10, SEC, and Big 10.
