What happens to Big 12 wrestling?

With Nebby gone, that leaves ISU, Missouri, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Is that even worth keeping a conference or can our wrestling program jump into another conference?

The question really should be: does the Big 12 keep wrestling as a sanctioned sport?

ISU will continue to schedule high up programs in the wrestling world because of our stature. However, if the conference sanctioning falls apart, we'll likely have to go to regionals much like UNI.

Current by-laws state you need 6 teams to sponsor a sport in order to have conference championship. However, wrestling and womens gymnastics were grandfathered in, allowing them to continue with a conference championship sponsored by the conference. Losing Nebby, hurts both sports because they offered both sports. I wouldn't be surprised to see wrestling and gymnastics become what rowing and equestrian (sp?) are - they have a Big 12 Championship, and the conference allows them to use the "Big 12" name and provides a trophy, they just don't run the event, it would be left to the host school.
