    Dan Beebe

I hated the way he ran things,I thought he was way in over his head.
Not to get too personal but I thought he was just another pencil neck geek
that would bend over when it right down to it.
I gotta admit I'm surprised and wrong.
If it pans out like it looks...he may very well deserve to gain a bit a respect.

I didnt see another thread like this and if there was...I apoligize.

Did Beebe get lucky or does he now deserve some repect?

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Either way, Im grateful this appears like its going to end much better than it could have. yes Texas still has the vast majority of the power but we stay in a great conference and we will be drastically increasing our revenue. ISU does very well competing with the little we had to work with. All i know is it cant hurt when we increase it.

    Re: Dan Beebe

Maybe not so fast on the kudos for Mr. Beebe.

It sounds like a group of people, both inside and outside of college athletics, mobilized in the last week to bring together resources and put pressure on the south schools that were looking to leave. It sounds like this "group" was not in favor of the armaggedon that college athletics was staring at straight in the face, and these influencial people put together the deal that saved the league.

    Woah.

    Re: Dan Beebe

He absolutely got saved. From the sounds of things a mystery tv network came in at the last second and over paid big time in a sense to block the Pac 11 from becoming a mega conference and thus starting their own network which would have killed any chance to get quality Pac 11 games on their network. To me that says it was Fox. If it wasn't for the foresight of this network Beebe had positioned the Big XII to go down without even putting up a fight. First order of business is for the schools to get together and send Beebe packing. He is worthless.

Agreed. I can't believe guys like Joe Schad are giving him props for the "great job he did in holding the Big 12 together." Seriously? Maybe if he wouldn't have spent the last how many years with his thumb up his *** figuring nobody was ever going to try to cherry pick the conference, we wouldn't have been in this mess.

Make no mistake. Texas held the conference together and set up the t.v. deal. They let Beebe sit in the corner out of courtesy/pity.

On-the-job training. He learned quickly AFTER Nebraska and Colorado had left. I don't think he really thought any teams would leave. Then, after they left, he finally started getting serious about making teams in the conference happy besides Texas.

    Re: Dan Beebe

Given our TV revenue is projected to double, combined with our penchant for doing more with less, I will hope that the bump in revenue will do much more for us than the other in the conferance with much larger budgets.
Maybe it will offset the tougher schedules we will experience in football and especially basketball... given Nebraska and Colorado's past performance.

The more I read about how things have unfolded....the more I think
that numbnuts Beebe deserves some repect. It pains me to say it.

Did he plan this all along? Hell no....but did he adapt and do the right thing?
    So far..it looks that way.

So....I guess...thanks Beebe for finally doing your job.
    You pencil necked little puke.

Looks like Fox saw they needed the Big 12 and they did the footwork for the Beebe Man. He prersented the plan. TAM was going to expand SEC into Texas.

Not sure how much Beebe had to do with it, but at least he was there to help convince everyone to stay. It's still going to take a lot to get me to like him.
