Somewhat. Especially if they don't add anyone. I didn't see that coming a couple days ago.

Honestly...not really. I never thought Texas to the PAC-11 was going to happen logistically. To be quite honest, I know it isn't a popular opinion right now, but I am really not happy to be around Texas anymore. I can forgive if our payouts aren't drastically different. There is no reason for Texas to get $25 mil. while we get $14 mil. and they are the ones who started all of this. I guess I am surprised if the teams agreed to that kind of discrepancy in payout.

Have to say I find it funny that there is a 12 team big 10 and a 10 team Big 12. But if we do have to play all of these teams every year we are going to need to pick up our game. My feelings are if you want to be the best you have to beat the best...LETS GO STATE!!!

It ain't over 'til it's over in my book.

ISU had better get its butt in gear and have a psycho focus towards getting our programs winning consistently. The conference just got a lot tougher.

I couldn't be more shocked(and happy). I thought at some point this week we would be without a conference and begging places like the mountain west to take us.

Re: Is anyone surprised the realignment turned out like this?

At this point, there are no plans to re-expand to 12 teams. If that doesn't happen, they will definitely have to consider a name change.
This story is not finished by any means. Even if this short term fix works to bring peace for a season, other conferences with expansion propositions will come calling on Oklahoma to try and cherry pick another elite program from the Texas ties.
It would be a great move for the Big 12 to consider TCU and Houston to keep the conference membership at 12 and continue to have a championship game at season's end.

Are we celebrating because we are in a league with a team who gets the majority of money and recruits? Why? I'm happy we are in a league period but some good options came up and I don't think the big twelve is the best option for us.

Yes, I am not sure that Texas will not pull the same stunt or Mizzou won't get itchy again if Big 10 wants to expand. But this is the best option we have.

I certainly am and I, for one, am delighted. If this thing really happens and doubles our TV revenue, this is freakin' fantastic. Sure, the conference gets a whole lot tougher, but that's fine. I'm just glad we're not in the flippin' Mountain West or Conf USA...

    My thoughts exactly.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

In case you didn't notice...WE DID NOT HAVE ANY OPTIONS. As one poster said earlier, if the Big 12 dissolves we are going to have to go begging for another conference at this point...likely at a smaller amount of conference revenue.

For all of you that think this is "over" and you can go back to status quo...YOU ARE WRONG. We need to pick it up and demand more from ourselves as supporters, from our administration, and from our coaches/teams so that we never find ourselves in this position again...and there will be another time.

We need to win and make it a habit. No more patience is a virtue BS and accepting mediocre or worse results. We are still playing with the big boys and if we want to continue to do so we better start acting like we belong!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

to provide texas even more influence? to dilute our ability to recruit texas with two teams leaving the conference? to duplicate a tv market? No, no thanks. We can add, but no texas schools.
