    Will Nebraska-Iowa completely overshadow Iowa-ISU?

I am concerned about the new rivalry between Nebraska and Iowa completely overshadowing the Iowa-ISU games. I am predicting that, next year, it will be difficult to find the Iowa-ISU football game on TV even within the state of Iowa, while the Nebraska-Iowa game will very likely be nationally televised in a prime time slot cost-to-coast.

I think we should start considering dropping the Iowa rivalry and replace it with a new one, perhaps with K-State. We've already gotten a bit of a start in that, with the 'Farmageddon' games at Arrowhead. All we need is a trophy.

    Yes, it will.

yes it will. the media will demand it to be so, so they will make sure that joe fan cares more about this game than ISU. We should end it.

No. Nebraska wont view Iowa as a true rival. There is so much more than the game that goes into the ISU-Iowa game, that stuff will be hard to take away.

The novelty of this game will wear off with time IMO.

I don't get this. Why would anyone not want to play Iowa anymore?

Who the hell will Nebraska view as a rival then? CU and OU have been their rivals historically, and they won't be playing them anymore. They will likely be in a "West" division with Iowa, Minny, Wiscy, Northwestern, and Illinois. Who out of that group would make a more likely rival than Iowa?

But I really don't know that this matters to us, because if this goes down as planned, we should be dropping the Iowa game anyway. With us having 9 conference games per year instead of 8, including OU, UT, and aTm, we have more than enough meat on our schedule. We need to get rid of the Iowa game, at least until we move back to a 12 team league and have a 4th non-con game again.

Dumb. The Iowa v. Iowa State game will have no problem being televised in Iowa. In case you haven't noticed EVERY game Iowa plays is on TV in Iowa. The only way the rivalry will be dropped is if Iowa no longer wants it.

Is Iowa-Minnesota any good? How about Iowa-Wisconsin?

Not saying the NU game won't be important, but it will not magically take the place of the ISU-Iowa rivalry.

Re: Will Nebraska-Iowa completely overshadow Iowa-ISU?

First, the Nebraska-Iowa series didn't really take all that much away from the ISU-Iowa rivalry several years ago. Second, Nebraska-Iowa's going to happen later in the year, and ISU-Iowa's going to remain in the second or third week.

Attention to the rivalry game will be just fine.

Re: Will Nebraska-Iowa completely overshadow Iowa-ISU?

    I wouldn't mind dropping Iowa.

If we win, which is about half the time over the last decade or so, it's only because Iowa doesn't take it seriously and it's our Super Bowl. I'm sick of hearing that crap.

Sure seemed like Iowa took it seriously last year, didn't it? I thought they didn't care about it?
