    Encouraging news from Orangebloods

Just posted to Twitter by Chip Brown.

"A proposal by Dan Beebe to hold the Big 12 together with 10 teams is in play and being considered by Texas, sources say."

    Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods

As long as the proposal includes texas leaving the remaining 9 (now?) as a conference, no problem.

I'm not sure how long we want to continue to be affiliated with them.

is there at least a 50% chance that the big 12(10) stays together then?

    Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods

This would be the best situation for everyone that is on the outside looking in (ISU, MU, KU, KSU and Baylor). I think it helps Texas and OU as well as they don't have to travel across 3 time zones. Please make it happen!

    Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods

IMHO Spin by him for TU aimed at the Aggies considering SEC.

I want the best for ISU, but I am really tired of being part of the TU harem.
(and this is not e defense of the Aggies who are so enamored with going to the SEC and getting away from TU that they are not asking themselves what is the best solution for our student athletes).

I do not want us to downgrade, but I would appreciate a competitive, balanced conference in which all members are considered somewhat equal. (I know, be careful what you wish for).

Any sort of conference with the Big 12 would have to require teams to not leave for a long time.

We dont wanna deal with this crap every year

    Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods

IF the remaining members stay will the The Big Twelve expand back to Twelve or fourteen teams and then get a good TV deal that would be split throughout the conference? You have to get a TV deal period, expand back to twelve adding Louisville and Cincy to the north. Go to fourteen with adding Louisville, Cincy, Arkansas (if aTm leaves), Utah.

No school is asking themselves that question! Every school is either asking themselves which deal gives them the most revenue or which deal allows us to survive! Every school involved is asking themselves one of those two questions! Even ISU!

    Re: Encouraging news from Orangebloods

RUN NOW. Texas will never allow us to "fairly" compete. Our budget will never compare to theirs, and we can not compete with them. It is like fighting in a duel where only one person has a gun. If we can get out now and land in a conference that has or will have an automatic qualifier, run like the wind! Get he heck away from Texas!

No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda

This would be the best short-term option, but over the long-term I have the feeling that we are going to get hung out to dry anyway.

If we stayed at 10 and dumped the conference championship game I would be more on board, but I agree, I want away from Texas now.
