    Re: New Big 8

That's a poor, poor TV market. I'm not convinced Louisville and Cincy would leave the BE market for that.

    For "I", for "S", forever!
For Iowa State all the way.
Let's go! To show them what the gang's all here for,
Go! To show them how the Cyclones cheer.
    For "I", for "S", forever!
For Iowa State do it right!
It's time to climb up on the vict'ry wagon,
    Fight! Iowa State, Fight! Fight!

We would make no money off TV revenue.

Half of the teams you mentioned are the same teams that are being talked about by the Big 10...so I don't see that happening.

How do you figure??? Louisville has had some good years, Memphis is traditionally competitive, Cincy is on the rise, TCU is good, Houston has potential, Mizzou and KU have had success lately, and ISU is on the rise, and KSU has Snyder back and might be good again soon.

    Re: New Big 8

Can we please drop the "let's reform the Big 8" already? The Big 8 has been dead for 15 years. Time to let go - it ain't coming back.

If you haven't figured out yet, 8-team conferences aren't economically viable. Why do you think the Big East is trying to add more teams? Because is prevents other conferences from picking it apart. Why do you think the Big 8 brought in the Texas schools in the first place? Because the Big 8 didn't have even close to enough TV sets.

The Big 8 was great through the 1980s. It's just not going to work anymore, and it's time to leave your nostalgia by the wayside.

Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Traveling expenses alone would be enormous. Ames to south florida? UConn to Baylor? Yeah they are cross divisional but other sports besides football and mens basketball are making those trips and thats a lot of money real fast and the initial revenue and money is not there to support that.

Play football and men's and women's basketball in this set up then for all the other sports, like wraslin, just play the teams in your division. Boom! Big 8 created.
