    Marathon Training

Anyone training for a fall marathon? Chicago perhaps? Its my first and I'm a few months into my training. The summer heat in Texas is making it pretty difficult...

Use halhigdon.com. I have used his halfmarathon plans extensively.

Yeah, I've used that a bit. I'm running with a marathon training group and they have spelled out training runs for us. Going well. Thanks.

I have used the higdon plan for all my marathons.

When it gets too hot/humid to do effective workouts outside I run on a treadmill in an air conditioned room. Don't know if that is an option for you or not.

My personal opinion is that you can do all of your easy running just fine in the heat, albeit at a slower pace, but that you don't get any real benefit out of trying to do intervals or hard running workouts in extreme heat.

    Re: Marathon Training

Hal Higdon got me through the Chicago Marathon last fall. Got to meet him at the expo before the race too. I've been on his half marathon program this summer. Beyond the training programs there is a ton of great info on his site.
