Interesting comment made by a MWC AD

I found this comment from a Wyoming columnist made off of a conversation with an anonymous Mountain West Conference athletic director interesting. Though he doesn't specifically mention Iowa State, it gives us a big of an idea on what the MWC could think about adding the Big 12 "leftovers."

Is it realistic for both Kansas schools join the MWC? One MWC athletics director said no, comparing Kansas going from the Big XII to the MWC as a MWC team going to the Big Sky Conference.

He thinks Kansas and Kansas State, if the Big XII dissolves, will push for the Big East Conference.

He also thinks a guy like Kansas men's basketball coach Bill Self would quit before taking his teams to places like Clune Arena at Air Force, where it has a had time drawing 2,000 or 3,000 fans a game.

    2 things:

I think if KU and K-State go to the BigEast, then in all likelihood we would follow.

If the KS schools went to the BigEast and had assurance they were "in", then I could see them lobbying to get ISU in as well, if it is necessary.

There is no way Kansas goes to the Mountain West.

I think that is why BSU was added. There is no way they would have pulled the trigger on that if they thought there was still a chance the Big12 teams would be coming. This makes me hopeful that there is a verbal agreement with the Big East if Texas and company bolt.

Screw Texas. The four schools (MU, KU, KSU, and ISU) should have such an agreement without regard to what Texas does.

There is no way in h e double hockey sticks Kansas would go to the MWC. I could see them becoming an independent before something like that happened. That brings up the question. Can any school become independent?

I agree that the MWC going ahead and adding BSU a week later tells me that they don't think they can land the Big 12 leftovers afterall, and the way they did that was I'm sure to talk to AD at those schools and learn things that we don't know.

Don't forget the buyout. If the other schools stay, can ISU pay the buyout?

No other school should have any interest in looking out for us. KU/MU/KSU couldn't care less for us right now. We can't decide where to go, we can only lobby for a conference to invite us in.

Tell texas that they can have the gate from 4 consecutive football games against ISU in Ames.

    At the end of november.

we'll see how much they'd want it.

But if the conference is officially dissolved, nobody will have to pay a dime. That is how I understand it at least. There are a few different theories out there.

After the Big East possibility came up, I really don't want to be in the MWC.
