Pizza Hut ad unintentionally slams Clones

Pizza Hut is running a TV ad showing a couple loser little league players sitting on the bench talking about how losing is OK when you have pizza to look forward to. The loser team name on their loser jerseys? CYCLONES

I think there is a minor league baseball team somewhere named the Cyclones.

Brooklyn Cyclones are the NY Mets' minor league team.

I hope this is said in jest. It is after just a commercial about a kid's baseball team. This perceived slight and blaming someone / everyone is getting real old. I know people are on edge because of the recent developments -- but you guys are acting like we are victims of everybody (now Pizza companies).

Is this Cincinnati Cyclone mascot's teeth missing because he plays hockey, or because he's from Cincinnati?

I'm hoping we figured out a way to sell the naming rights and it becomes a revenue stream for the Athletic Department.

Can't go wrong with either theory.

Re: Pizza Hut ad unintentionally slams Clones

This just reminds me of a few years back there was a Nissan Heisman Trophy commercial that had all of the mascots chasing a truck with the trophy in back. At the end of the commercial all of the mascots are on the screen and in the back is a tornado. Is there another Cyclone or Tornado in NCAA Division 1 that I cannot think of? I have thought about that for a while and thought it was kind of cool that our mascot was included in that commercial.

Pizza hut was founded in Kansas, so they're most likely Jayhawks.

The post said "unintentionally". I don't know if it's a national ad. If it's regional, they could have picked another name in the interest of not offending anyone. That sort of advertising decision is everyday.

My only point was that out of all the zillions of names they could have put on the loser jerseys they chose "Cyclones".

At any rate, Mark, thanks for bringing me back to reality with your somber, joyless post. I think I'll blame you for that. The "recent developments" don't affect me at all.

And don't you dare pick on me when I'm "on edge"....You leave me alone...I'm a victim of everybody.
