And the opportunity cost of voting NU to the Big 10 represents a big loss in money to the state of Iowa.

Really? What numbers do you have to prove that? Omaha is like the 46th TV market in the US. Smaller than Des Moines/Ames.

I think you are pulling facts out of your ***.

So you think they should have a meeting to tell the president not to vote for Neb, eventhough all 10 other schools were going to vote for them. Seems like a waste.

Why would they? This will not change the BoR mandate that ISU stops taking general funds, will it?

Re: My Letter to the Regents

Seriously, people still do not get it. It's not Sally Mason's job to save ISU - it's her job to do what's in the best interest of the University of Iowa. And it's not the Regent's job to play "what if" games - as in, what if Iowa voting for Nebraska destroys the Big 12? That may or may not happen. But voting yes for Nebraska is clearly in the best interest of Iowa and the Big 10.

Now, if Sally Mason does not vote for Iowa State to join the Big 10 if that resolution were to ever come, or if the BoR doesn't instruct her to do so, or if they decide to stand in the way of a Big East invite if one ever comes, THEN we have a right to complain.

The BTN is already in Iowa. The Big 10 has the most popular team in the state. With Neb you get a whole state, of die hard fans. A lot more die hard fans than ISU. The viewer ship of the BTN just went up a lot. Neb also has a national fan base.

Well if that represents the amount of effort the State is willing to spend for billions...

Do you think, given they did not mandate a meaningless no vote, if it was going to be close, and ISU was in heated competition with a school like NU, one that brings the Big 10 more money than ISU, they would mandate a no vote for NU then?

You have absolutely no numbers to support your argument.

You're very, very naive if you think we provide more to the Big 10 than Nebraska.

That wasnt the issue today. It was a vote for Neb to join the Big 10. ISU wasnt part of the choice. The only way this voted affect ISU is the fact that the Big 12 started to fall apart 4 days sooner than it would have.
