Big news they think they are better than us. Iowa better wake up and realize they are sliding down the Big 10 ladder.

Got to love the comment from the guy who says we should go to the Missouri Valley, or the other guy with the MWC or the WAC.

What in the world would Nebraska going to the Big Television have to do with us playing Iowa?

I had this discussion tonight with my dad - this is no cakewalk for Iowa having to play NU and WI every year in football. There will be no more 2nd place in the Big Ten West going to a BCS bowl game. If they don't get to the championship game and win it they won't be a BCS team.

Re: "No guarantee" ISU-Iowa would continue

It shouldn't make any difference with NU on their schedule. That would be a conference game for them, we're still an OOC game. The argument in the past might have been they didn't want to play two Big XII teams, hence, no game with NU. Barta may not want to schedule us, but the state will still want to see the game annually.

Although, going 5-5 against us in the past 10 years and us being left out now...he may not want to lose to us in the future...so he'll use the NU excuse going forward.

That's fine. Not going to read this, but if they pull the 2 for 1, 3 for 1 or all at Iowa City crap, I say we cut the tie all togther. They make money on it too. Hell, we filled the stadium with NDSU last year.

Re: "No guarantee" ISU-Iowa would continue

With the stacked deck ISU plays against, I am surprised the State of Iowa did not cancel it in 1999.

That said, if the Big East deal happens, I would be interested in canceling it in favor of more freedom. Play as many Texas teams as many times as possible in the non-conference.

Losing to ISU in the future may cost Iowa bowl games or New Years day bowls.

Short of playing big name schools or in recruiting areas, this is a good idea.

Re: "No guarantee" ISU-Iowa would continue

This actually surprises me. My thoughts on why he would say this are if everything starts boiling down to 16 team conferences it's going to de-emphasize non-con games because the conference games are going to be stacked and one would expect the number of non-con games to go down. Schools are going to go to booking nothing but FCS cupcakes to cover the two or three non con games.

Haha, oh, what a joke. Go ahead Iowa, show your colors. They know that we have closed the gap and they cannot simply write us in as a win. Now they have the excuse to get rid of it.
