I thought that was a pretty good article. I like one of his last points that when the SWC broke up, schools like houston, rice, TCU, and SMU got screwed out of a major conference and that fans were heartbroken. It kind of sounds like what might happen to us. At least we won't be the only ones its happened to.

I think that in the big picture that ISU, Kansas, K-State and Mizzou going to the Big East might actually be better than staying in the Big XII and having the foot of Texas on our neck.

Get into a conference with revenue sharing. The Big East could actually launch a TV network like the Big Ten. It could actually generate as much or more TV revenue than the Big 10 or Pac whatever. We could be very competitive in football. Basketball would be brutal.

This all depends on what the Big East evolves into...who knows who would leave or who would stay when all of this shakes out? Very confusing to figure out...

Maybe I'm a jerk, but I have a hard time comparing ISU to some of these schools. SMU caused its own demise--they don't get a ton of sympathy from me. Rice is the second smallest school in the FBS and hadn't been to a bowl game since 1961; I'm not sure they belonged in a major conference. TCU's resurgence didn't happen until they got away from the SWC. They had a 10 year stretch where they did win more than 2 games a season. And that was with paying players! Getting out was the best thing that happened to them. Plus, they're not exactly a big school at >9000 enrolled.

The only one I would compare ISU to is Houston. That was the team I felt the most sorry for when the Big 12 was formed. Back then, I would've traded Baylor for Houston in a heartbeat.
