Interesting, a 12 team FB and 20 team BBall conference. I'm only down if it includes a tv network.

He's a sports reporter for the Washington Examiner in DC.

Not just a blogger. I'll give it some cred until proven otherwise.

Not beggers yet. We should be more cocky. Go check out that KSU site EMAW. Those guys post like they planned this whole thing and KU is keeping them down. That has to be the most entertaining board in the bigXII.

This might have some crediability since this is the first time we've seen someone mention Iowa State.

If this were to happen, I don't see a TV network far behind. I've actually always wondered why the BigEast didn't have a TV network already. They should have the TV markets to make it happen.

Boise to the MWC, Texas to the Big 10, and the NE Patriots to the SEC. See, I can do it too.

Orangeblood is technically a blog, but I still have to believe that the "source" is the AD himself. It has become the unofficial figurehead for the Texas Athletics Department.

What's so bad with 20 teams? We've had it for years that you dont play all of your football opponents every year, what's wrong with not playing all of your basketball opponents?

    A possible example:
    Divide into 5 team subdivisions:
play your subdivision 2x (8 games)
subdivision on the other side of your division once, alternating years at home (5 more games)
play 2 teams in each subdivision of the other division once, alternating and rotating (4 games)

    Total: 17 games

Obviously, a lot of ways to do this, but its not impossible.

I'd play two of the three other subdivisions, rotating which two from year to year. That makes an 18-game schedule (8+10).

    North plays South and East
    South Plays North and West
    East plays West and North
    West plays East and South

and rotate from year to year.

Obviously given BE geography those wouldn't be the names of the subdivisions.

That could work as well. Definitely not impossible to come up with a way for it to work though.

Big East - I Like this!

    1. Keeps BCS status with new bowls
    2. opens up new recruiting territory that will REALLY help BB (NYC is all about BB)
    3. opens up the NYC Pinstripe Bowl as a new bowl to take with
    4. could add a few more FB teams to get to the magic 16 in FB or better even if don't so more teams have winning records. Flexibility!
    5. The BB would actually push the Big East TV Network as the NE is all about BB in college and that means more views over longer time period for BB games which are also more in number. Hoiberg and Fennelly have got to love this!
    6. Most importantly, ISU could step right in and begin competing in FB for the conference championship.
    7. ISU will keep its national recruiting presence for FB if the program starts to do better record-wise and all the old school connections won't go away, may just be harder sell. Success in the league will fix that.

Overall, I think if the Big East thinks strategically and members stay together and don't bolt for a "better deal", this could be the conference that wins big -- IF they keep the number of FB programs at 12.

    Re: Follow this Twitter Feed

I love that in a couple of tweets he says that there is a push by Louisville and Cincy to make this happen and then says that key alumni groups support this idea too. I shouldn't be...but I'm getting a bit optimistic about this. Maybe it's because it's 2:18 am and I'm running on fumes.
