    The silver lining

the reality is we were never going to win the conference championship. Texas outspends us and doesnt leave their state to recruit.

I am excted thinking of the new start we will have somewhere else.

I think Id rather live as an alpha dog in a small city than a mutt in a large one.

    I'm living the dream.

    Re: The silver lining

I see what your saying here but it does not make the situation feel any better. Granted I feel we would have a much better chance to compete in the MWC or god forbid the MAC, it still doesn't feel good.

It feels like really praising the tangyness of the musturd on the **** sandwich.

I disagree with everything you said. I want to compete against the best, if we can't beat them then so be it, but I want that feeling I get when we do.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

Kinda like when you were dumped by that really hot chick who really only wanted your money but you were actually charging all your credit cards up just to keep her happy. Then you started dating an average chick with some acne scars and a hair coming out of the mole on her face....but hey--she ain't gonna cheat on you and she thinks you're way hot.

I agree with you entirely, and have never understood the attitude of some (albeit few) losers & quitters who spout this type of nonsense.

Can you just imagine if our Academic programs had that attitude? I can see our recruiting material:

"We at Iowa State have given up competing with the top engineering schools in the Country as it was simply too tiresome. You can, however, expect to receive a mediocre education, good enough to land you a top engineering job at a dumpy manufacturing plant in Podunk, USA. We hope that you will schedule a visit soon; our partner in lodging, the Motel 6 offers free toast and a $5 off coupon for fine dining at the Village Inn."

Did we not just go to a really nice Bowl game last December, or was I imagining things? Were we not just recently competing for Basketball titles!?!

Loser attitudes accomplish nothing but making you a sure loser.

This is a ridiculous post. Motel 6 offers a free continental breakfast.

Is it competition when one of the teams gets more money from the pot? If it was equitable then I'm all for trying to knock off Goliath. But it isn't.

Didn't that win against Nebraska feel amazing this year? Do you not believe in playing the best to make yourself better?

    Re: The silver lining

I agree moreso with what Paul Clark wrote about changing the future. If its the damn MWC, ISU and it administrators, and players, and fans will all need to come together to kick some *** (collectively for the 1st time EVER)....so somewhere down the line the program can regain respectability.

    Re: The silver lining

I think that some of the folks here are thinking small.

With a core group of ISU, Kansas, Kansas State, and Mizzou (and maybe Baylor) .... a pretty fine conference could get formed by mining some teams from the Big East and Conference USA (among possibly others).

I don't think that ISU would necessarily have to be resigned to being added to the MAC.

Of course, building the MWC into a super conference is still a legit possibility too.

Either way, the result could be ISU landing in a BCS-quality conference.
